My Favorite “Dump and Done” Recipe

“People who love to eat are always the best people.” ∼ Julia Child ∼

I decided to take a break from all the sappy motherhood posts for something a little more practical. I like sharing recipes and ideas that make life easier, and I have a GREAT one.

I’m the worst about meal planning. I’ve tried really hard to be better at it, but with small babies, it’s a lot easier said than done. I have bought all the cookbooks and pinned all the recipes on Pinterest. Have they helped? No. Most recipes are WAY too involved and require WAY too many ingredients. I like the dump and done variety of meals: dump all the ingredients in a crock-pot (with little to no prep) and let it do its thing until we are ready to eat. I keep hearing about something called an Instant-pot that people rave about, but it looks like it has too many buttons for me.

I like my old crock-pot just fine. If any of you have an Instant-pot, what do you like about it? What makes it different/better than a crock-pot? If it’s life-changing, I might have to ask the hubs to put one under the Christmas tree for me this year. 😏

Plus, since I’ve been working my way through all the episodes of This Is Us, I’m not so sure a crock-pot is such a good idea anymore. I’m still traumatized by THAT episode. If you watch the show, I’m pretty sure you are, too. If you don’t, I don’t recommend starting the show if you are pregnant, postpartum, menopausal, or basically, going through anything causing a surge of hormones. You. Will. Bawl. 😭😭😭 And I mean ugly cry during every single episode. I was warned and didn’t listen.

BUT ANYWAY, as far as crock-pot recipes go, I have one that I come back to again and again. I’m not too sure where I originally got it, but it’s quick, cheap, and simple, and it’s been a hit at our house. And every mom needs a few tricks up her sleeve in the kitchen. This is mine.

You should be able to save the recipe image directly to your phone or computer or to pin it to a recipe board on Pinterest. (The button is below this post, or you can hold down the recipe image, and the button will be on the top left corner.) Football season is coming up, and this makes a cozy game day treat. Enjoy!

***Update: A sweet friend said she also uses this recipe but swaps out the beef for chicken which gives it a whole different flavor! Two recipes in one!
